- The State Government’s $20 million Rural Health Workforce Strategy is ensuring there is a plan to recruit, train and develop the health professionals needed to deliver country health services.
- Under this strategy the government released the SA Rural Medical Workforce Plan in December 2019 and the Rural SA Ambulance Workforce Plan in August 2020.
- The government is now finalising the Rural Nursing and Midwifery and Allied Health Workforce Plans and has commenced the Rural Aboriginal Health Workforce Plan, with significant financial investments made in each of these workforce areas.
- The Rural Health Workforce Strategy has already achieved improvements in education and training opportunities, in workforce support and in a range of recruitment and retention initiatives for all health professions in regional and rural South Australia.
